Maize stalk, wheat straw, peanut vine, fresh grass, whole crop silage. Cut to 20–100 mm, thrown straight into a cart or trough. The kneading version splits the stem lengthwise, so cattle and goats eat the coarse part instead of sorting it out and leaving it in the manger.
Every kilo of long straw a cow pulls out of the manger and tramples is money on the floor. Cutting to 30–50 mm lifts intake and cuts refusal — usually the fastest return of any machine on a cattle or goat farm.
Long stalks get dragged out and left. Chopped and kneaded material mixes with the concentrate, so the coarse stem is eaten instead of sorted to one side.
Fresh maize at 65–70% moisture for silage, or dry straw for the dry season. The two feed rollers handle both without changing parts.
Tow bar, two road wheels and a single-phase option on the small model — it works at the stack, not only in the yard.
Smallholders usually take the 0.8 or the 3.0. Co-operatives and feedlots go 5.0 and above. All models cut 20–100 mm; the difference is how much material goes in per hour.
| Model | Motor | Capacity | Cut length | Blades | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9ZP-0.8 | 2.2 kW | 800–1,000 kg/h | 20–80 mm | 4 | 30 kg |
| 9ZP-3.0 MOST POPULAR | 3–4 kW | 1,500–3,500 kg/h | 20–80 mm | 3 | 120 kg |
| 9ZP-5.0 | 5.5 kW | 4,000–6,000 kg/h | 20–100 mm | 3 | 300 kg |
| 9ZP-8.0 | 11 kW | 7,000–9,000 kg/h | 20–100 mm | 3 | 660 kg |
| 9ZP-10 | 15 kW | 8,000–15,000 kg/h | 20–100 mm | 3 | 980 kg |
Capacity is quoted on fresh green material; dry straw runs lighter in weight but faster through the head. From 9ZP-3.0 up, a kneading (straw-splitting) rotor can be fitted in place of the plain cutter — ask for it in the inquiry, the model number is the same. Dimensions and packed volume depend on the frame option; we confirm both before booking freight.
Grip the material and pull it in at a steady rate — the cut length stays even and kickback drops.
Three or four rotating blades against one fixed bed knife. Re-grind rather than replace; a spare set is cheap.
20–100 mm by changing the feed rate and the blade-to-bed clearance. Silage wants longer, dry straw shorter.
Disengages the feed without stopping the motor, so you can clear a blockage safely instead of reaching in.
Moves behind a two-wheeler or by hand. No foundation, no installation — it works where the stack is.
Repairable anywhere. Guards unbolt with four bolts, which matters when the nearest dealer is a day away.
If it grew on your land and is fibrous, it goes through this machine.
| Your stock | Forage per day | Model |
|---|---|---|
| 5–10 cattle or 30 goats | 100–250 kg | 9ZP-0.8 |
| 20–40 cattle | 400–800 kg | 9ZP-3.0 |
| 60–100 cattle | 1.5–2.5 t | 9ZP-5.0 |
| Feedlot / co-operative | 5 t and up | 9ZP-8.0 |
Daily forage is roughly 2–3% of body weight for cattle on a mixed ration. A machine rated for one hour of work per day is enough — most farms run it 20–40 minutes.
The plain cutter slices the stalk into short lengths. The kneading rotor also splits it lengthwise and crushes the nodes, which softens hard stems such as maize and sorghum so animals eat the whole piece. Kneading costs about 10–15% more and uses slightly more power. For dairy and goats it is usually worth it; for silage going into a bunker, plain cutting is fine.
Both. Wet maize at 65–70% moisture is the design case for silage season. Dry straw is lighter and passes faster, but very brittle material can dust — wear a mask when chopping dry rice straw for long periods.
No. Bales need a bale breaker or a tub grinder first — feeding a whole bale into this head will stall it or break the feed rollers. If bales are your main input, tell us and we quote a different machine instead of selling you the wrong one.
9ZP-0.8 runs on 220 V single phase or a small diesel engine. From 9ZP-3.0 up it is 380 V three phase; 440 V / 60 Hz is available to order. Tractor PTO drive is possible on the larger frames — ask before ordering.
Every 40–80 hours on clean straw; faster if you chop sandy or soil-contaminated material, which is the main cause of rapid wear. Blades are re-ground on a bench grinder, and a spare set ships with the machine.
10–15 working days from deposit. The 0.8 and 3.0 models ship LCL in a wooden crate; from 5.0 up the machine is bulky enough that we check the best loading with your forwarder before confirming freight.
Material, head count, power supply and whether you want the kneading rotor — that is all we need to quote correctly.
